Vardhan Puri Shares His Plans Of Making A Biopic On His Grandfather And Iconic Actor Amrish Puri’s Life-EXCLUSIVE
Amrish Puri is a Bollywood legend, who in his career that of almost four decades, mesmerised the audience with his histrionics, not just nationally but globally. With over 400 films to his credit, the actor has played roles from all nooks and corner, ranging from a snake charmer to a doting yet strict dad, from a horrifying villain to a cunning politician. Be it romance, comedy, drama or action, there isn’t any genre that he didn't do in his long and illustrious career. The legend left for his heavenly abode in 2005, but his work continues to live on. His grandson, Vardhan Puri, entered showbiz in 2019 with Yeh Saali Aashiqui and is taking his legacy forward in films.

So, when asked to choose a project of Amrish Puri that he would like to be a part of if it is ever remade, Vardhan couldn’t pick just one. “I would love to be a part of his artwork, the parallel cinema that he did, like Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda, Vijeta, Party, Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Mandi and Manthan. He did some outstanding work in them. Out of his more commercial and popular work, I would love to do Mr India, Virasat, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Nagina, Ghatak, Gardish, Ghayal, Meri Jung, Damini and how could I forget Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom and also Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. He had such a diverse filmography in which he did some outstanding work,” Vardhan asserts. But when asked to choose just one, he responds, “If I have to choose one, it would be a tie between Virasat and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.”

Vardhan is not only an actor but also a writer and he co-wrote his debut film as well. Since his grandfather had such a diverse filmography and led such an amazing life, does he plan to write or star in his biopic? “At one point there were rumours that Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor wanted to make a biopic on my grandfather’s life. I just heard about it and didn’t know if it was true but I think it was since I received a call about it one day. But I actually have a great idea to write a film on his life and have been speaking to my family about that and they are really excited about it. I hope to make a biopic on the spirit and legend that was Amrish Puri, one day,” he concludes.
